A Big Month — For America and for Us

July is a special month this year. On July 4th, our nation celebrates its 250th birthday — America 250 — a milestone worth pausing to appreciate. And on July 1st, we celebrated a milestone of our own: five years in business serving this community. We're grateful for every customer who has trusted us along the way, and we look forward to many more years ahead.

Now, with summer in full swing, we want to make sure you're protected out on the road.

Summer traffic is no joke. AAA consistently ranks the Fourth of July holiday as one of the deadliest travel weekends of the year. More cars on the road means more chances for fender benders, so it's a good time to revisit your liability limits and make sure you're protected if an accident involves another vehicle or property.

Teen drivers and summer don't mix well — statistically speaking. The period between Memorial Day and Labor Day is known as the "100 Deadliest Days" for teen drivers. If you have a new driver in the house, talk to us about making sure they're properly covered and what discounts might be available through good student programs or defensive driving courses.

Check your roadside assistance. It's one of those add-ons people forget about until they need it. If you're thinking of a long drive this summer, it's worth confirming you have it.

Born and raised in Los Angeles by a Pastor and a History Professor, a love for learning and community was woven into my life from the start. As it turns out, those same values became the foundation of my career.

After high school, I jumped into the workforce convinced that drive and natural ability were all I needed. A CEO quickly set me straight — I wasn't "seasoned enough" for the role I wanted, and she was right. That conversation sent me back to school at Mount Saint Mary's University in Downtown LA, where I earned my MBA and built the foundation I was missing. From there, I found my calling at State Farm.

Owning a business built around helping people is something I don't take for granted. It lets me combine my passion for supporting others with the drive to educate — a gift I owe to my parents. This July marks five years in business, and every year has reinforced why we do this work: to build real relationships and make sure our customers have the resources and protection they deserve.

On the personal side, my wife Britt and I are raising our son Raylan, who — whether he knows it yet or not — is already being recruited to cheer for our local basketball and baseball teams. Every day I'm working to be a better husband, father, and leader. As Gandhi put it: "Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."

Our commitment to this community goes beyond insurance. We're proud sponsors of the Volley4Sound Charity Beach Volleyball Tournament in Hermosa Beach, longtime participants in the Earth Day Beach Cleanup in Manhattan Beach, and I'm honored to serve as a Board Member of the Manhattan Beach Hometown Fair.
